With the birth of my daughter Kenzie, my love language shifted to advocacy. I have shared stories for years that encompass the tremendous discovery of neon life that arrived alongside her, and now I have the incredible opportunity to share those stories in person or virtually, as a speaker with Outside Pin Collective. This new collective of speakers and facilitators will present throughout the school year, and alongside the brilliant mind and kind heart of Dr. Shelley Moore, I will be sharing from a parents perspective of having a child with a disability in the education system, and the joy and importance of inclusive education for students with disabilities in the classroom.
“Katie’s presentation was so well done and exactly what our division needed to hear. I have been receiving such positive feedback and administrators are excited to share the presentation with their entire staff.””
“I was one of the teacher candidates present for your keynote at SFU’s symposium. Kenzie’s story is one that I have carried with me all the way into my certifying practicum and will carry with me throughout my career. Hearing a parents perspective on inclusion has been, without a doubt, one of the most (if not the most) impactful experiences of my teacher education journey.”
